Food insecurity is a pressing issue across Coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry. Thousands of our neighbors are facing hunger on a daily basis. Our local food pantries and organizations are working tirelessly to address this challenge, but they are in need of your support now more than ever.
In Southeast Georgia, organizations like Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia partner with more than 200 non-profit organizations to deliver millions of meals across 21 counties. Close to 30,000 children and seniors are facing food shortages in the Lowcountry. Community support is crucial to sustaining the efforts of the many organizations that are helping our neighbors in need.
In addition to donations of non-perishable food items (canned goods, peanut butter and pasta), your financial contributions will allow food banks to purchase much needed nutritious food to stock the shelves. Here are some local groups that can use your support:
